MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) was released on 7 October 2019. The newly released update, macOS Catalina, is available to users who are running OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later on their Mac. With this latest iteration, Apple replaces macOS Mojave sporting newly updated features.
- Download macOS Catalina 10.15.2 Combo Update The Combo Update is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental 'delta' update, so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
- MacOS Catalina (macOS 10.15) Driver Installation and Troubleshooting This describes how to install the driver for macOS Catalina (macOS 10.15) and perform troubleshooting. For information on individual products, check the listings in Readme.htm in the download file.
Hi may9901,
Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're encountering an error regarding your internet connection when trying to complete the macOS Catalina install. I see you've tried to install twice and continue to see the error and the other Mac in the household didn't have an issue. I know it's important to keep your devices up-to-date; I'd like to help. First, I'd recommend trying to install the upgrade using safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac
If the installation fails again, try with a test user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
I'd also suggest reviewing the information in the resource indicated in your screenshot if you haven't already, although it mentions Mojave, the steps should apply to a Catalina install as well: If error 'com.apple.OSInstallerSetup.error Code=551' occurs when installing macOS
Let me know what you find.
Best Regards.

Hi – I have been having some issues on my late 2013 Imac since upgrading to Catalina. A lot of library messages in the logs for example. Sometimes if I go to shutdown I get a black screen for a while then it reboots, other times it’s fine. Sometimes when emptying the bin it just sits there on the screen and other odd behaviours. Have run Malwarebytes and nothing untoward there.
Reinstall Macos Catalina From Big Sur
It’s got very frustrating so I thought I might try and download Catalina again and refresh it. Using the Recovery, Installed OS option, does this download a new copy of the OS to the Macintosh HD partition while keeping Macintosh HD-Data partition separate? I have a Time Machine backup and also other separate copies of the three users Photos library from the iMac but wanted to know if I can re-install the OS without specifically doing anything else to keep my data. Sorry if this is basic question but in Mac terms I am not that experienced.
